Braking
Patriot’s standard four-wheel antilock disc brake system (ABS) with brake assist and traction control can help drivers maintain vehicle control during emergency braking, ABS modulates the brakes to reduce stopping distances and improve steering control under braking. Special off-road calibration provides sustained lockup on surfaces like mud or gravel for improved braking, and aid in trail driving when in four-wheel-drive Off-Road mode. |
Electronic Stability Program*
A great defenseman. Traction can be compromised on wet, snowy, icy, sandy or loose gravel roads, hot, dry pavement can also form a thin layer of oil, causing a slick surface. Patriot’s Electronic Stability Program* (ESP), all-speed traction control, hydraulic Brake Assist, and Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) systems work together by applying selective wheel braking and engine throttle control to help the driver maintain vehicle directional stability. There are three modes of ESP to choose from: Full-on, partial, and full-off for varying degrees of traction control. *Always drive carefully, consistently with conditions. Always wear your seat belt and obey traffic laws. |

Air Bag Protection
Safety and security come first. Both Patriot Sport and Limited models features standard Next generation multistage driver and front-passenger air bags,* Supplemental side-curtain air bags,* and Roll-sensing technology for additional side-impact protection. Available on Limited, front-seat-mounted side air gags* help protect front occupants’ vulnerable lower midsections. All five passengers have shoulder restraint seatbelts. *Always sit properly in the seat with the seat belt fastened. |
Safety Cage
Be prepared. Patriot comes standard with a high level of standard safety and security features including a safety cage structure and front crumple zones that absorb energy during a front impact; door guard beams help protect occupants during side impact; a high-strength steel cross-beam is bolted to the rear body pan under the rear seat to help transfer side-impact energy from one side of the car to the other. |
