Suspension
Mountain switchbacks. Parallel parking. Evasive manoeuvres. Patriot offers smooth, agile, and responsive handling thanks to its new independent MacPherson strut front and multi-link independent rear suspension. Patriot also features unique shock turning and high-strength steel springs for capable handling on mountain switchback and evasive manoeuvres. Parallel parking is made easy thanks to Patriot’s standard rack and pinion steering.

Electronic Stability Program*
A great defenseman. Traction can be compromised on wet, snowy, icy, sandy or loose gravel roads, hot, dry pavement can also form a thin layer of oil, causing a slick surface. Patriot’s Electronic Stability Program* (ESP), all-speed traction control, hydraulic Brake Assist, and Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) systems work together by applying selective wheel braking and engine throttle control to help the driver maintain vehicle directional stability. There are three modes of ESP to choose from: Full-on, partial, and full-off for varying degrees of traction control.

2.4-litre engine
Strong. Efficient. The 125kW 2.4-litre engine has loads of smooth, quiet, fuel-efficient power, with high-reving highway-passing muscle when needed. The strong and efficient engine employs dual overhead cams (DOHC) and dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on both intake and exhaust camshafts. The electronically controlled timing is continuously adjusted to provide either maximum power or fuel efficiency* - depending upon the demands of that instant. Enjoy efficiency and power from a high-tech engine that features many high-tech features: intake manifold and exhaust flow control valves, dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, forged crankshaft and connecting rods, aluminium block, and an acoustic oil pan.

2.0-Litre Engine
The available 103 kW 2.0-litre dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) engine* has plenty of smooth, quiet, fuel efficient power thanks to its advanced design. Inside you’ll find many high tech items including; four valves per cylinder, dual overhead camshafts (DOHC), forged crankshaft and connecting rods, aluminium block, and intake manifold and exhaust-flow control valves. To ensure reliability, the engines were durability-tested 15-million customer-equivalent miles.

Five-Speed Manual
Patriot’s smooth shifting five-speed manual transaxle mates beautifully with the 2.4-litre engine for powerful acceleration, outstanding fuel economy, and solid overall performance.

CVT Transaxle
Elegant efficiency. The available second-generation Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT2) shuns gears and instead uses a steel belt and active pulleys to produce the optional gear ratio for maximum efficiency and the lowest impact on your hot chai latte. The CVT provides quiet shifting, solid acceleration, and outstanding fuel economy.

 

Freedom-Drive I™ 4WD
For light off-road capability, the Freedom-Drive I™ active full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) with LOCK mode. It’s designed to give drivers year-round assurance, as well as the ability to handle rough weather and low-traction conditions such as rain and snow. LOCK mode can handle deeper snow, sand, and other low-traction surfaces at speeds under 56 km/h.

Towing
Patriot has a 1,500 kg maximum towing capacity when properly equipped.
