Jeep Cherokee is available with an automatic transmission/diesel engine combination. This new engine is an intercooled, turbo-charged 2.8L 4 cylinder powerplant, featuring common-rail direct (CRD) injection and full electronic control.
 
This 120kW/400Nm engine is mated to the Jeep 5-speed automatic transmission engineered specifically with towing in mind. It features an alternate second gear ratio that provides smoother up and down shifts depending on load and other dynamic inputs.
 
Also available is the existing Power Tech 3.7L V6 - which delivers a mighty 150 kW of power and 307 Nm of torque. The Power Tech V6 is one of the most powerful, responsive and efficient petrol engines we have ever produced!
 
Introducing the 2006 Cherokee Extreme Sport
 
New to the Cherokee Sport line-up for a limited time this year is the 2006 Cherokee Extreme Sport with a repackaged exterior appearance and distinct interior. The Cherokee Extreme Sport comes with graphite fender flares and fascias and chrome body side moulding. Additional exterior features include 16-inch “machine face” alloy wheels, roof rails and Extreme Sport badging. Based on the Sport model interior, the Cherokee Extreme Sport adds a leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise control, a rear cargo organiser and a six-disc CD changer.
